How you and your students can help build the Jewish library of the future
Rm 101
                  Efraim Feinstein

This session will explore how the values of openness, sharing, and community can build new resources that benefit the entire Jewish community and that make material available for students to creatively engage with Jewish texts.  It will also discuss the practical aspects of what an educator needs to know now about sharing material to prepare for the Jewish library of the future, and how technologists and educators can cooperate to make new Internet-based resources that reflect these values.

Sex, Booze, and Lies...in the Torah!

Rm 103

            Marilyn Z. Fine

Our most sacred text is replete with narratives that would make a tabloid writer blush!  From Adam and Eve in the Garden to Judah and Tamar, Noah to Joseph, the Torah tells it like it is.  But what do the Rabbis and Commentators do with these texts?  Participants in this session will have the chance to find out.

This is Not a Post-Zionist World: A Look Back at the Great Thinkers

Rm 105

            Dan Brosgol

The writings of the great Zionist thinkers still inform our visions of Israel, education, Judaism, and identity.  Looking at Alkalai, Herzl, Ha’am, Gordon, Kook, and Jabotinsky allows us to look at Israel and Judaism today with additional perspective and the ability to synthesize recent history with their words.  We will look at texts, learning activities, and the later works and thinkers who were inspired by the original Zionists as we reflect on how they have affected us to today.

Recruiting and Retaining Committed School Leadership

Rm 107

            Robert            Evans

Jewish schools increasingly look to expand the corps of volunteer leaders but who make the best volunteers . . . and why?  Where can we turn to recruit committed leaders?  What resources already exist that help train leaders?  What is the relationship between volunteer leaders and school staff and faculty?

My 3-year-old LOVES his Tefilin: How establishing an atmosphere of Kavod helps our children and their parents form a positive relationship with both God and their community

Rm 109

            Eitan Gutin

From an early age our children know that boundaries have been established between places where it is OK to be a normal toddler or preschooler - the lobby, a play room, Tot Shabbat - and places where a child may be welcome as long as she does not act her age. By building these walls between young children and their community are we making outreach to the same children tougher in the future? This session is primarily for synagogue educators and will be a discussion of whether or not we show proper kavod to the youngest members of our communities and practical ways to both encourage a relationship with God from an early age and make the toddler set (and their parents) feel more welcome in our congregations.

JEWISH SONGS I NEVER TAUGHT MY MOTHER

Music Room (Second Floor)

            Paul Levenson

My mother never taught me a single Jewish song while I sat on her knee! Neither did my Bubbie. I had to learn the Hebrew and Yiddish ones on my own. As a Rabbi I started writing my own songs. Sadly, I never taught any to my Mom. “Shabbat is Coming”, “Bible Stories”, “Jewish Genes Song”, “Getting Old”. Over the years, thousands have listened, learned, and taught these songs to their kids and adults. Come! Enjoy! Then teach!

Apply innovative techniques learned here to explore the nuances of this and other Hebrew blessings and texts.

Rm 105

Why perform community service/ social justice/ tikkun olam/ tzedakah? And what are all these terms anyway? We'll go over the four basic ways to address a societal problem and how to get your students actively engaged in the issues at hand. I will give you a sample text study, a real-world case study, and teach some tips for reflection-based discussions. Whether you organize the community mitzvah day at your synagogue, are looking to create a curriculum for your youth group students, or just want to explore your own connection to Tzedakah, this session is sure to help you on your way.

How Should We Teach Rabbinic Literature, and Why?

Rm 107

            Jon Levisohn

In a recent article, I proposed that there are 10 distinct orientations to the teaching of rabbinic literature.  Through discussion and text study, this session will introduce the idea of a teaching orientation, consider the menu of orientations, and begin a process of critically examining our pedagogical choices in the teaching of this material.

Early lessons from a community-based, collaborative, supplementary middle school

Rm 115

            Rachel Silverman and Samara Katz

Makor is an innovative and collaborative approach to Jewish middle school education, launched two years ago, built on the success of the Boston-based Prozdor. In the fall, Makor will encompass four synagogues and about one hundred 6th and 7th graders. The students split their time between their synagogue schools (Tuesday afternoons) and the larger Prozdor community (Sunday mornings). This session will aim to share some of our successes and challenges with this program, as well as offer tips for creating a similarly modeled school in other communities.

Goal! Not soccer – student learning!

Rm 205

            Anna Salomon

There are many things we strive to help our students improve – both academically and socially. Unfortunately it isn’t always what we want that matters. But with goal setting we can help students improve in what matters to them – and us. This session will take you through the process of goal setting in my classroom and how it changed student learning.

How to Teach a Book

Rm 101

            Peter A. Stark

We often teach psukim - verses, but how often do we teach whole books? It's much easier to create lessons that are smaller in scope, but it's the bigger ideas that we're aiming for, or should be. How do we help students to study a whole book? What tools can we place in their hands for seeing larger structures, along with those that help to analyze smaller structures?

From The Yiddishe Mama to The Nanny: Acculturation, Resistance and Stereotypes of the Jewish Woman

Rm 109

            Sasha Goldberg

From 1929 to1956, Getrude Berg portrayed Molly Goldberg on The Goldbergs, which ran first as a radio show, and then as a nationally televised "situation comedy" for its last ten years. In these twenty-seven years, Berg introduced audiences all over America to the original Yiddishe Mama: Yiddish-accented,  nurturing, funny, fat, kind, and always cooking. Four decades later came the next nationally televised Jewish woman: Fran Drescher as The Nanny. Airing from 1993-199, The Nanny was nasal sounding, often whined, took care of the kids, was funny, skinny, sarcastic, and always dieting. We will begin by watching clips of The Goldbergs and The Nanny, and follow with a discussion about these two representations of Jewish womanhood in light of the larger acculturation, resistance, and stereotype of the Jewish Woman in America.

Rm 205

            Imanuel Ravad

The word Mikva has in Hebrew only two meanings: an “Assembly of Water” and “Hope!” What is the connection between these meanings, and how does it become a most moving and uplifting experience for every man and woman, and for me personally? The first experience of Adam and Eve outside of the Garden of Eden was the Yerushalayim Shilo’ach Spring Mikva immersion. Why they did not go instead for a tour of their magnificent newly discovered World? Mikva is an answer to the question: Are we in this world as Owners or as Guests?

Laboring over Lesson Plans? Secrets for Success!

Lesson Plans can be so tricky: How do you write them? How do you know how much time an activity takes? How do you cover everything? What if you didn’t plan enough? In this session we will look at a lesson plan template used in most school districts and learn how to apply it to a Jewish setting; we will learn how to write (and measure) goals and objectives in order to “prove” we are teaching “everything” in the curriculum; and  we will learn what to do if we are left with down time (that time when some students have completed their work, and behavior seems to deteriorate) and how to plan to avoid it in the first place! Appropriate for teachers, people who train teachers, and anyone who writes a lesson plan.

No! Stop! Don’t! Managing Misbehavior

Rm 209

            Dina Schiff

There must be at least a hundred ways that students can misbehave-both intentional actions and unintentional distractions. However creative students can be in their behavior, we can have just as many tricks up our sleeves! In this session, we will look at the primary causes of misbehavior (boredom, inability to do the work, peer fear, and peer recognition) and how to prevent them. We will also examine the rewards and consequences of rewards and consequences. Expect to walk away with a large bag of tricks for how to not only correct, but how to prevent misbehavior. Appropriate for teachers, people who train teachers, principals, and frustrated parents.

Teaching Like an Actor Means Acting Like a Teacher

As educators, what is the most important thing we teach? Books? Ideas? Concepts? Values? No. Students are the most important thing we teach. That’s Not Fair!: Addressing Power, Privilege, & Oppression in the Classroom Toward Social Change

Rm 109

            Alissa Wise

That’s not fair! Is a phrase often thrown around by young people and there is a lot underneath that statement. It can be a useful way in to addressing societal and cultural issues that underly your tzedakah or tikkun olam project.  Nancy Gruver, the founder of New Moon: The Magazine for Girls and their Dreams, identifies the complaint, “that’s not fair,” as the seed of what she calls girls’ “natural feminism.” Recognizing something as unfair creates a teachable moment, when an educator can help develop that intuitive sense into a principled critical awareness of injustice.  Thus the moment of “that’s not fair,” rather than being just a petulant or entitled complaint, is a great moment of possibility in our work with teens. At this workshop you will get concrete ideas for activities, supplementary texts, interesting projects, and engaging lesson plans to address these issues constructively and effectively in your unique Jewish context.

TUESDAY EVENING CLOSING PROGRAM @ NewCAJE

Black Box Theater

9:15 PM – 11 PM

We came together a few short days ago, creating holy time and space with blessings and words of Torah. Tonight we begin our Havdalah, ending, as we began: with song, story, laughter, with drum and dance. But tonight’s celebration is of a different kind.  Renewed and refocused, we see the path before us. Tonight we draw strength from one another as we set out on a new chapter of the journey.  Chazak v’nitchazek, may we be strengthened!

Shir Tzion, the School of Jewish Music Choir from Hebrew College in Newton, MA, begins our program with harmonies from a new generation of cantors. Musical performers include superstars of Jewish kids music Peter and Ellen Allard, and Rabbi David Paskin (of the duo Shirav) who brings Torah, song, and spirit together like no one else. Peri Smilow shares her unforgettable songs of freedom hope and justice, while the phenomenal Josh Nelson reminds us why his star continues to rise.

Let us not forget this evening’s MC & DH (designated humorist) Rabbi/Comedian Bob Alper, and storyteller/performance artist Judith Black, who will surprise us with whatever she does. A singing finale with Josh, Peri, and friends concludes our program.

Rm 211

            Leah Wolff-Pellingra

Over the past 5 years, the presenter and her colleagues have built a prayer curriculum that integrates weekly Hebrew School assemblies with monthly Family Worship experiences. Through music, creative expression, story and discussion, we have worked toward the goal of increasing our students’ comfort on the bima and in the pew by inviting a deeper understanding of prayer. We have encouraged the growth of personal prayer, while giving our students tools with which to forge personal connections to the Divine. During this workshop, participants will experience a lesson, will be given the opportunity to create one of their own, and will leave with the tools to apply what they’ve learned within their own home congregations.

Esperio

Subject WikiFX Scam Alert

Reply

Esperio provides MetaTrader4 and MetaTrader5 platforms, which are the undisputed leaders in retail Forex trading. But you should know that a decent platform is not enough to confirm that a broker is reliable! Indeed, elaborate scams are well-funded, and they can afford to provide sophisticated software and many other tools, making the whole experience look legit. That said, the offshore nature of the brokerage, the lack of a license, and the Ukrainian warning are still the biggest issues, and Esperio remains a broker WikiFX will never recommend, notwithstanding the advanced platforms they have. So, to fully benefit from MetaTrader, its recommended to go for regulated brokers.

??The trading risks are exceptionally high as the default leverage is 1:500, and the ratio can be increased to 1:1000 upon request. Both ratios have tremendous profit potential, but the risks are so high that you may blow your account within minutes, if not seconds! Hence, the ultra-high leverage is a downside, and at this point, WikiFX cannot confirm that Esperio allows reduction! Beware!

??Now let's search “Esperio” on WikiFX APP to find out more about this broker. WikiFX is an authoritative global inquiry platform providing basic information inquiry and regulatory license inquiry. WikiFX can evaluate the safety and reliability of more than 36,000 global forex brokers. WikiFX gives you a huge advantage while seeking the best forex brokers.

??As you can see, based on information given on WikiFX, Esperiocurrently has no valid regulatory license and the score is rather negative - only 1.16/10! WikiFX gives brokers a score from 0 to 10. The higher the score is, the more reliable the broker is.

??Investors are advised to search relevant information on WikiFX APP about the broker you are inclined to trade with before finally deciding whether to make investment or not. Compared with official financial regulators which might lag behind, WikiFX is better at monitoring risks related to certain brokers - the WikiFX compliance and audit team gives a quantitative assessment of the level of broker regulatory through regulatory grading standards, regulatory actual values, regulatory utility models, and regulatory abnormality prediction models. If investors use WikiFX APP before investing in any broker, you will be more likely to avoid unnecessary trouble and thus be prevented from losing money! The importance of being cautious and prudent can never be stressed enough.

??In a nutshell, it's not wise to invest in Esperio. WikiFX reminds you that forex scam is everywhere, you'd better check the broker's information and user reviews on WikiFX before investing.

??You can also expose forex scams on WikiFX. WikiFX will do everything in its power to help you and expose scams, warn others not to be scammed. In addition, scam victims are advised to seek help directly from the local police or a lawyer.

??WikiFX keeps track of developments, providing instant updates on individual traders and helping investors avoid unscrupulous brokers. If you want to know whether a broker is safe or not, be sure to open WikiFXs official website or download the WikiFX APP through this link to evaluate the safety and reliability of this broker!

Subject How to make Russians aware that the war is bad. APPEAL to Users

Reply

Hello Members,

I wonder how to reach the consciousness of the Russians and make them realize that every day in Ukraine RUSSIAN SOLDIERS DIE and military equipment is being destroyed on a mass scale. Why destroy and demolish when you can build and create a new, better world.
WAR is suffering, crying, sadness and death, do you have any ideas to convince Russians that Vladimir Putin should retire, bask in the sun somewhere in warm countries and end this bloody conflict in Europe.

It is a great idea to select random companies from Russia on Google business cards and add opinions about anti-war content and make people in the country aware that Putin is doing wrong.

Please take a moment to select a random company on the Google map and add your opinion about anti-war content.

It is also worth informing Russians about the possibility of VPN connections because Russia is blocking a lot of content on the Internet and sowing sinister propaganda by not giving people access to real information

Peace be with you!
Thank you

Subject STOP. War in Ukraine.

Thank you

Esperio

Esperio

кредитное плечо до 1:1000;
приветственный бонус до 50% от суммы пополнения;
сверхбыстрое исполнение ордеров за сотые доли секунды;
современная торговая платформа MT4/MT5;
сервис Esperio Copy Trading для копирования успешных сделок;

Esperio

ISRAEL INVESTMENTS LTD»

ISRAEL INVESTMENTS LTD».

«Повний пакет послуг, що надається Центром Біржових Технологій — надійний фундамент, на якому будується і буде розвиватися ваш бізнес: навчання, програмне забезпечення, торгова система, аналітична і технічна підтримка на всіх етапах, від відкриття рахунку до рішення призупинити або закрити торгівлю»;
«Клеревант» сформований фахівцями компанії ЦБТ — визнаними лідерами по портфельному інвестуванню в Україні. Важливо знати: на момент роботи портфеля ваші гроші знаходяться на рахунку європейського банку. Вони застраховані фондом гарантованого страхування і інвесторським компенсаційним фондом Європи»;
«Унікальність «Клеревант» полягає в надійності і інноваціях. Даний інвестиційний портфель поєднав в собі високу прибутковість акцій найбільших світових компаній і недооцінені активи. Можливість заробити від $ 5 000 до $ 50 000 за декілька місяців. Вигода: максимальний дохід завдяки унікальній стратегії оцінки акцій та інших активів»;

ISRAEL INVESTMENTS LTD

«Професіонали нашої компанії також можуть створити індивідуальний інвестиційний портфель, з урахуванням Ваших побажань. Він буде доповнений фінансовими інструментами, які допоможуть швидше досягти поставлених цілей. Щоб гроші почали працювати на Вас, покладайтеся на професіоналів!»;
«ІП надає стабільний щомісячний пасивний дохід. Придбати портфель дуже просто: вибираєте пакет, тиснете «інвестувати, заповнюєте просту форму зворотного зв’язку. Все, дуже просто, далі з Вами зв’яжеться наш фахівець. Він надасть повну консультацію і обговорить всі деталі обраного портфеля»;

Subject STOP. War in Ukraine.

Thank you
Tomasz Jerzy Michałowski
